Our experience in the art world began in 1972 with the publication of the Edizioni Cinquantasei, which remains the cultural mainstay for all our initiatives.
The Cinquantasei Art Gallery was founded in 1980, with the artistic advice of the then director of the Bologna Modern Art Gallery, Franco Solmi. The project was to promote the Bolognese artists of the 19th and 20th century who belonged to the great Bolognese School that goes from Luigi Bertelli to Pompilio Mandelli. The books and the large public and private exhibitions held in recent years have once again brought national attention to these important artists.
In 1985 the idea came about that with liberalization, things that were happening in the world of the arts in the former Soviet Union would generate interest at the national and international level. This insight led to the creation of the project displayed in the “Russian Art” section.
Our Bologna location is two stories and comprises roughly 800 square metres. Its five exhibition rooms, mini bar/café, bookshop and extensive library make our operation a small media centre.
In the 21st century, we have begun to focus exclusively on some artists, such as Mirella Guasti and Luigi Pellanda, and on national and international artists (Amedeo Modigliani, Giorgio Morandi, Mario Sironi, and others).
